Twelve’s first commercial e-fuels plant starts operations in the United States
June 18, 2026
A new commercial e-fuels plant to capture CO2 directly from air has started operations in Moses Lake, Washington. Twelve’s AirPlant One project combines captured CO2 with green hydrogen to produce synthetic versions of jet fuel (also known as e-SAF) and naphtha that can be used in existing processes.
Twelve already has a deal in place with Alaska Airlines and Microsoft, where the two firms have jointly committed to buying the e-SAF, with Microsoft using a book-and-claim system to allow it to report reduced emissions on business flights.
